Masterplan ETCS
Infrabel’s ETCS Master Plan delivered full European Train Control System coverage across Belgium’s 6,399 km mainline network, completing national deployment in December 2025. The programme combined multiple ETCS levels with large-scale digital interlocking renewal and centralised control integration. Managed end-to-end in-house, the project enhances safety, interoperability and operational resilience while significantly reducing SPAD risk. It establishes Belgium as a European leader in digitally enabled, network-wide signalling transformation.
